Thanks to all who keep coming along and posting their wonderful poems.
This week, you have a photo prompt:
Ken Howard RA
Who is this person? Why don't they just get on with the ironing? What's the problem with that dress on the mannequin? Who is it for? What is causing the inaction? Is it a modern Cinderella? Are they unsure whether to go or not? What?
Whatever the answers are, whatever the scenario, I have every faith that you will be able to give us your version.
So. Give us a poem inspired by the painting. As ever it can be whatever you bring out of it.
Rules: Nothing specific this time. Next time though - I will challenge you with a form!
General Rules: The week's subject will be posted on Sunday. Poets can then post until Thursday evening. Poems must not be already written, or from a longer previously written poem. They must be written off the cuff, to the subject/theme. Unless a particular form/length is specified there will be no restrictions on poetic form, or length.
Voting will take place from Friday morning until Sunday evening, when the week's winners will be announced along with the new subject.
Voting Scores - 3 points for 1st choice, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd.
Ted says I have to wear this - 'ts after his dead ma and shave my legs
soon he will have me wash his clothes too and stop biting nails
Ha I will dip the black frock in water I will and then accidentally fry it with the iron ancient it is, like his mongrel Phil who has this disgusting habit of jumping me and well
This aint going nowhere I am going nowhere too and never in that black ..something...
-coming back later maybe for a really great punchline except that I don't have it with words I am just one of those that you look at and think she's sort of gone, girl - who lives behind those eyes well not me ... I have never found me and nor will you and I will not iron up for anybody
That poem is the truth in case you were wondering. BH even irons his jeans! I meantersay, who the hell irons jeans? All of my clothes are non-iron. The last time I ironed was to put up a hem using hemming web. (Look it up.)
Deleted: Wishing one and all a historically significant New Year! Let's enter a new decade fully awake, with our eyes wide open, so we may observe the nightmare our world has become, and dream of creating a paradise on Earth, for everyone! 20 /20 vision!
